Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Review & Swatches

I am back with a very exciting new launch from Sephora. This Sephora Favorites set launched two days ago online and because I have 2-day flash shipping, I already have it in my hot little hands. If you don't have the flash shipping service with Sephora, let me tell you that you are missing out. I got it before I became a VIB Rouge and it's worth a lot more than the $10 a year that it costs. But I digress: let's talk about the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Collection shall we?
As you know, nude lips are all the rage. I don't love all nude lips, but I have begun to enjoy some mauve/pink nudes a lot. When I saw this set I immediately thought of the Give Me Some Lip Set (find my post at the link) from 2015 and was overjoyed to see a nude version. In December I shared a photo on my IG of a gloss set with a burgundy box that I spotted in JCPenney's Sephora, but that was all pink glosses that would not work for me at all so I had to skip it. But I knew that I had to get this one because one of my girls is having a birthday in February and she LOVES nude lips, it's the only color she wears. Then I threw in a second set to review for your guys. I also got a FREE Caudalie skin care set with a promo code and picked up the new Marc Jacobs mascara in a deluxe sample size with points. I love Sephora and all of their goodies, I really do.
This set is very exciting and I think Sephora has wizened up to how much of a hit the other set was and raised the price. Last year's Give Me Lip Sets were $25 and had six products. This set is $28 and has only 5 items. However, two of them are FULL SIZE. Two full sized products for $28 plus three deluxe sized items isn't a bad deal. Now it just depends on if those full sizes make the set worth it.

This set contains:
- 0.01 oz Marc Jacobs Beauty Mini (P)Outliner Longwear Lip Pencil in Prim(Rose) (cocoa spice)
- 0.12 oz NARS Dolce Vita Lipstick in Dolce Vita
- 0.07 oz Laura Mercier Milky Way Crème Smooth Lipstick in Miky Way (nude)
- 0.088 oz NUDESTIX Lip + Cheek Crayon in Whisper
- 0.10 oz Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in Namaste Nude

The first FULL SIZED item from the set is the NARS Dolce Vita Lipstick in Dolce Vita which costs $27. This looks beautiful in the tube and I was SO excited for this!

Next is the Laura Mercier Milky Way Crème Smooth Lipstick in Miky Way, which isn't my favorite. I love brown nudes, but this brown is rubbing me the wrong way. It's giving me an orangey vibe, but it could be different on the lips.

The next item is quite a treat for someone like me who will probably never pay for a full size Marc Jacobs lip liner ($24 BTW). This is the Marc Jacobs Beauty Mini Lip Pencil in Prim(Rose) and it is a cute little thing. The packaging of this lip pencil is super luxe and the shade is gorgeous! I was almost scared to open this because it seems so fragile, but when I swatched it, it held up nicely. You only get .01 ounces of this so I hated to even swatch it. It's def not going last long but I will enjoy it till it runs out.
The NUDESTIX Lip + Cheek Crayon in Whisper is the second FULL SIZED item in this set with a value of $24.  I hear a lot of buzz about Nudestix so I was curious to check it out but not excited. Once I pulled it out and saw how gorgeous this shade is, I became SUPER excited. Do you see that color? It's so beautiful! I really love this color and will have to use this up so I can see how long it lasts and if it's worth the price tag.

The Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in Namaste Nude was one I was not looking forward to but that I liked once I saw it in person. On Temptalia there are swatches and the full faced one scared the heck out of me. On Christine it's one of those shades that washes you out so bad, but looking at it in person I think I can make it work. And that is awesome because just like everyone else, I am super curious about these new lippies but so far I have held out. Now I can try the formula out without dishing out the full price for one.

Nars: This swatch session has seriously taught me that looking at a lippie is not the same as actually trying it. I was SO enamored with the Nars lipstick because the shade in the tube is so pretty, and so far I don't own any Nars lippies. But the formula is one of the sheer ones that applies streaky color. I don't even mind moisturizing formulas, but I don't like these that have such sheer color that slips around. This is about 6 swipes and as you can see, it's pretty sheer.

Tarte: This is nice and I think I can work with this shade even if I have to put a darker liner on it. From the swatch the formula feels nice, not too overdrying and it didn't crack at all which has happened to me with other liquid lipsticks.

Laura Mercier: Again this is another glossier formula but this one def has more pigment than the Nars. I am undecided on the shade because it's still looking orange. I have to try this on to see how it look on my lips. It could work because it's a brown and I love browns, but won't know till I wear it.

Marc Jacobs: Of course this is awesome, and I didn't want it to be! I don't want to want to buy a $24 lip liner but this shade is amazing and it's got MAJOR staying power. After I finished with swatches, I put makeup remover on a cotton pad and all the shades came off except this one. This line stayed put! And the shade is super pretty! (kill me now)

Nudestix: This was the standout for me. I have been slightly curious about Nudestix but I think they are pricey at $24. But on trying it I can see that they are really nice. The swatch went on SO creamy, so smooth and SO pigmented, not to mention the shade is gorgeous. It is so creamy though that I know this will not last as long as a lipstick and even though this is supposed to be full sized, it's not that big. I'd love to know how long these last with continued use.

A quick shot so you can compare to last years set.

So is the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Set worth $28?

The jury is out. It will all depend on how the Nars and Laura Mercier look on the lips. I have had a few people ask for lip swatches and will try to do them tomorrow. If I do I will add photos to this post. Until I try them, I can't say for sure.

For sure the Give Me Some Nude Lip Collection is a good value, but it all really depends on each person and how many of the 5 products they can and will use. If you can only use 1-2 of the deluxe sizes, you might be better off getting a full size. But I hope my review has helped you decide if you want to order it or not.  I'd love to know your thoughts on this Sephora Favorites set!

  1. Great review as always and I love nude lipsticks because I'm pale and that means nude is really not that naked :)

  2. Ok I have to agree with the Dolce Vita thing...I had actually purchased it on its own a couple of years back and while it was pretty it was barely there. I ended up returning it. But I tried it when I got this set and a lip primer under it helps it show a bit more and stay put, at least for me. The one I'm probably going to take the longest to use is Milky Way. However, I'm still totally psyched I got one before they sold out!
