August Beauty Favorites

During the month of August I didn't end up wearing make up as much as I wish I had and because of that I don't have a favorite in each category this month. It's incredible to believe that somebody who owns so much make up only wears it a portion of the month, but the fall and back to school season is so busy that there really isn't a lot of time for make up application. But still, I do have a very nice list of favorites here to share with you. These are all items that I used a handful of times and that I really did enjoy using. I'm happy to note that I have a nice mix of both drugstore and high-end products to share with you.

The Marc Jacbos Air Blush in Flesh & Fantasy has jumped to the number one favorite blush of my collection. I purchased this blush when we were on vacation in Las Vegas a few weeks ago and I have been unable to stop using it. At first I wasn't sure that such a nude blush would be worth the $42 but the thing is that this blush has the most beautiful finish on the skin, the lighter of the shades provides a beautiful sheen on the skin without actually being shimmery. And then the neutral darker shade gives your skin just enough color that you can't overdo no matter how heavy you tend to go with your blush. At $42 this blush is a little pricier but I think the formula and the packaging totally warrant the price, and seriously the pan is so big that I don't see me using it up for a very long time.

During the month of August I feel like my brow game got a bit better. My brows are super hard for me to do and I will never have matching brows, but I do feel that these two products together have made a huge difference. Benefit's Gimme Brow and ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Eyebrow Color. products together are like a little dream brow team. I've had the Gimme Brow for a while now and like it OK but I don't think that it's good enough on its own. Adding ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Eyebrow Color to my brow routine to really clean up and shape the eyebrow makes a world of difference.

The Lancôme Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner is another new product in my collection that I love. It's unfortunate that I love it as much as I do because it is a pretty pricey eyeliner. I purchased it in a set from HSN so I didn't pay the full price this time around, which is fortunate because it's $27.  The Lancôme Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Noir is super black, matte and has some major staying power. I love how creamy it is and how easy it is to smudge out for a smoky look. I like this eyeliner so much that I reached for it every time I wore make up the last two weeks, so it is a major hit with me and something I would repurchase when I finish this one.

The It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara is another product that has immediately become a favorite. I purchased the dual pack from QVC and have had them sitting here for weeks until I finally got an opportunity to open one of the tubes, and oh my goodness this mascara is amazing. I'm a really big fan of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and the Marc Jabos Velvet Noir Mascara and I can tell you that this one works even better than those two on my very sparse lashes. This mascara curls my lashes it gives them both length and volume and it just makes them look absolutely amazing. I've already ordered a second duo pack and have signed up for auto delivery from QVC. You can find the It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara for $24 at Ulta or you can buy the duo pack at QVC for only $26.36 plus shipping.

I wear a lot of lipstick but this month I didn't have any that stood out to me more than my new Mac Del Rio lippie. I'd had this for a few months and just pulled it out in August to use for the first time. It really was a month of firsts and this was another new product that I love. Del Rio makes it easy to wear a brown for fall without it being too brown. I do have a swatch on my Instagram account if you would like to see what the color looks like swatched out.

If you follow me on Snapchat then you know that during the month of August I found some really affordable eyeshadows that have been around since the beginning of time it seems like. It's funny when you find a product that's been around forever and then you have to ask yourself why you didn't know about it sooner. These are Coastal Scents Hot Pots that are normally priced at $1.99, but I got them during their famous $.99 sale. Before placing the order I went ahead and did some research and I saw that they were pretty good quality but once I had them in my actual hands I realized that they are actually pretty great quality, especially for the price. I do have a Coastal Scents Hot Pot review up of my first order so if you want more information check that out. Today I'm just sharing five of the shades that I really liked and used a few times: Kiwi Green, Pumpkin Pie, Chamois Nude and Oktoberfest. I was so happy with the first haul that I ordered the Coastal Scents Fall Festival palette which I will be reviewing here soon. I'm really super stoked that I have found our about these Hot Pota and I cannot wait for the next .99 sale because I'm going to order a ton.

In August I also became a fan of two concealers: one high-end and one from a drugstore brand. The Too Faced Born This Way Concealer became a fast fave because of it's coconut water infused formula that works really well with my dry under eye skin. This sinks into my skin so beautifully and I get no creasing or really dry under eye, even at the end of the day. This product is $28 so it is pricier but I can definitely see myself keeping this as part of my collection at all times. The other concealer I found that I am really enjoying is the Catrice Liquid Camouflage Concealer which is only $6 at Ulta and usually on sale. I seriously didn't think that a full coverage concealer such as this would be good with my dryer under eyes but I find that it doesn't make me look dry or cakey and the coverage is absolutely insane with this concealer. I don't have dark under eyes but if you do and you are looking for a really low priced, very high coverage concealer this is one to def try out.

The Wet n Wild Contouring Palette in Dulce de Leche is in your addition to my collection. I've had the new version of Caramel Toffee for a while now but I didn't pick up this particular shade till about two months ago. I'm so glad that I did because this is the perfect contour shade for my skin tone. In the photograph I am sharing the older version but it's the new version that I'm actually talking about, I just happen to grab the wrong palette when I went to take my photos. Considering that this product is only about five dollars at the drugstore it is amazing just how soft and blendable the powders are. Formula wise I do think these newer powders are better than the old version. If you have a light to medium skin tone I definitely suggest giving the Wet n Wild Contouring Palette in Dulce de Leche a go.

So even though I don't have a favorite foundation or a favorite eyeshadow palette this month I do feel that the items I picked out are really good products. Some of these are items I reached for a few times and others I reached for every time I did my makeup. Michael for September is to wear a lot more of my make up especially my newer palettes so that I can have some new favorites next month to share with you.
