Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette Review & Swatches

You might already know that I am a HUGE fan of Makeup Revolution. I'd been hearing about the Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette for a while now but hadn't purchased it. A few weeks ago I placed an Ulta order and finally added it to my cart along with one of the new chocolate bar palettes. They were having a BOGO 50% off and I stacked a $3.50 off $15 purchase, making the items even more affordable than they already are.

The Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette has 8 pans, which makes this the most affordable contour palette in this range that I know of. NYX has a very similar palette but theirs is $24.99. My daughter actually has that palette and really likes it. I've not used that palette myself so I can't compare them but I have used this one a few days now and I know that I am very impressed.

THE SWATCHES

The contour shades on the bottom row are my favorite in this palette. You get three shades, two which look similar but are different in undertones. What I really like about these three shades though, is that none of them are orange. A lot of bronzer and contour powders tend to veer orange and it's not everyday you can find a cooler contour shade and a contour shade with a red undertone. I've been enjoying dipping into all three pans during my makeup application and creating my own personalized contour shades depending on how sculpted I want to look for the day.

The three highlight shades on top I really like too. Two are matte and one is more of a satin, but all three are so soft and buttery and that banana shade makes a perfect under eye setting powder for me.

The two baked shimmer highlighter shades in this palette are unexpected. I really wasn't sure what to make of them until I swatched them. The white shimmery highlight on top is really beautiful in person. The shade is pretty icy so I am not sure if I will ever use this as a highlighter, but I can see this being really pretty as an inner corner highlight or for adding a tiny bit in the brown-bone and buffing it out with your finger. The highlighter on the bottom is so pretty and very wearable. This one is definitely a lot more subtle though, it looks beautiful on the skin and because it's not a blinding highlight I feel like I will be getting a lot of use out of this shade.

From the many reviews I have seen and read about the Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour Palette, these highlighters and contour shades also work really well as eye shadows. The versatility of this palette is outstanding, especially for the price which is why I really recommend it if you are looking for an affordable contour & highlight palette.

I received the Natasha Denona Sculpt & Glow Palette for Mother's Day and while I know that is going to be an amazing contour & highlight palette, I know it's not going to be my "everyday" contour palette. There's too much work required with that palette for it to be a daily go-to. But this palette is definitely just that - an everyday contour palette that makes sculpting and highlighting your face quick and easy.
